Privacy policy

Short version: your songs never leave your device. We don't use accounts or analytics. Most pages show ads from the ad network Adsterra, which may use cookies.

Your songs

Everything you paste or type into the tools is processed in your own browser. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. When you close the page, it is gone, unless you choose to save it on your device.

The same goes for files you open: audio files in the MP3 transposer and music files in the sheet music transposer are read and changed on your device, and the files you save are made there too. They are never uploaded.

Microphone

Only two tools use the microphone: the guitar tuner and the vocal range test, and only after you press Start (your browser asks for permission first). The sound is analysed in your browser a few times a second to find the note, then discarded. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent. The microphone turns off when you press Stop or leave the page.

What is stored on your device

The site itself uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) for:

  • Theme (light, dark or system), if you change it.
  • Tool settings, such as sharps or flats, text size, diagram instrument and left-handed diagrams.
  • Saved songs, only if you press "Save on this device".
  • Setlists you make under My songs.

This data stays in your browser on this device. You can delete all of it at any time with the Delete saved data link at the bottom of every page, or by clearing your browser's site data.

A backup (My songs → "Back up to a file") is a file your browser saves on your device. It is made in your browser and never uploaded; where it goes after that is up to you. Restoring a backup reads the file in your browser too.

Share links

When you create a share link, the song is compressed into the part of the address after the # sign. Browsers never send that part to the web server, so the song is not stored anywhere except in the link itself. Anyone you give the link to can read the song, so share it only with people you choose.

Advertising

Most pages show ads from Adsterra, an advertising network. When an ad is shown, your browser loads it from Adsterra's servers. They receive the information any website receives, such as your IP address, browser type and the address of the page, and they may use cookies or similar technology to choose ads and count how often they are seen and clicked. How Adsterra uses this information is explained in Adsterra's privacy policy.

Ads are never placed inside the tools, and this page, the terms, the contact page and the about page have none. Our tools never send your songs anywhere, and we never share them with advertisers. An ad blocker does not stop any tool from working.

What we don't do

  • No accounts and no sign-in.
  • No analytics on this site.
  • No selling of your songs, files or emails.

Web server logs

Like any website, our hosting provider's servers may keep standard technical logs of requests (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and to keep the site running. These logs never contain your songs.

Email

If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply. Write to [email protected].

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
