About Chord Transposer Online

Chord Transposer Online is a set of music tools for changing the key of songs, made by EmproIT.

Why this site exists

Changing the key of a song is one of the most common jobs in music: a song is too high for the singer, the chords are too hard for a beginner, or the band needs a chart in another key. Doing it by hand is slow and easy to get wrong, and many online tools write the wrong sharps and flats or break the line-up of chords above the lyrics.

We built a transposer that reads songs the way musicians write them, spells every chord the way the key requires, keeps each chord above its word, and then helps with the next step: the easiest capo position, chord diagrams for guitar, ukulele and piano, a clean printout, and a performance view for the stage.

Who makes it

How we work

  • Your songs stay on your device. Everything runs in your browser; songs are never sent to a server. Read the privacy policy.
  • Checked music facts. Spelling rules, chord formulas, instrument transpositions and capo maths are checked against music-theory references and covered by automated tests. See how it works for the method and the test results.
  • No copyrighted songs. We don't publish lyrics or chord sheets of copyrighted songs. Our sample songs are public domain (such as Amazing Grace, 1779), with chords we wrote ourselves.
  • No signup. The tools work without an account.
